Poppy Ntshongwana, broadcaster and health enthusiast, is known for successfully completing a 30-day running challenge. She took it a step further by making it a 60-day challenge, and now that looks set to become a 100-day challenge!

Poppy is often tagged in other people’s running posts – something she finds humbling and inspiring.

“People have told me that following my running journey has inspired them to run more consistently. It’s incredible that I’ve been able to be part of their lives in that way. Quite honestly, I run to inspire myself, so to see that I’m inspiring others, well that’s the cherry on top.”

It’s not surprising that Poppy’s Black Friday wish list is full of the adidas running gear.

“The UltraBoost DNA x Star Wars trainers are perfect for running. I’ve followed the UltraBoost evolution with great interest and these are beautifully executed. I’m also a huge fan of the Supernova running shoe. I’m running in them at the moment and they’re super comfortable on my daily run.”

Poppy’s Black Friday choices, while guided by practicality, are also influenced by this season’s colour palette: “I would definitely invest in a Heat.Rdy tank top for the scorcher of a South African summer that’s already in full blaze. Haze coral is the colour for me. I love the Own The Run Club Tights in power berry and the Run It Shorts in signal pink. Running legs need to be shown off!”

She says that running during lockdown taught her about herself, the world, nature, human beings, and connection. “My biggest learning has been that running is my therapy. It puts so many things into perspective and helps me process stuff. I also dream when I run. I think and imagine my future – it all comes together in my heart and head when I’m running. My life’s purpose becomes clearer.”

Poppy has connected with runners all over the world and this, she says, has helped her to grow as a person. “I use my running to fuel the rest of my life. I use it to propel me forward and to try new, difficult and challenging things. It’s a great gauge for me in terms of how far I can push myself mentally and physically, and that manifests in other aspects of my life. I hope that, by sharing my running journey, other runners are able to do the same.”

Her last piece of advice is to take advantage of the adidas Black Friday sale, currently underway. Enjoy discounts of up to 50% on and in adidas stores countrywide, until Monday 30 November.
